Zimmerman Wealth Management, LLC (ZWM) is a fee-only SEC Registered Investment Advisor. We pride ourselves on our personalized, objective and responsive approach to helping investors better plot their financial futures. Fiduciary “Wealth management” goes a step beyond standard financial planning, addressing all things financial, from accruing wealth and managing it wisely, to spending it wisely, and furthering life goals to, ultimately, passing it on wisely.

Our programs provide a complete picture of your financial status with quarterly reports designed to keep you abreast of your investments and move you closer to your goals. As “Fee-Only” planners we are compensated solely by fees paid by our clients for financial advice. Period. We do not accept commissions or compensation from any other source. We do not pay or accept any finders’ fees. As a "Fee-Only" firm, ZWM avoids the significant "conflict of interest" that results for other advisors when they stand to gain financially from the purchase of any product he or she recommends to the client.
ZWM was founded in 2003 with the mission of providing superior expertise in comprehensive financial planning and investment management on a fee-only basis. These principles are deeply rooted in the values of the firm’s founder, Tom Zimmerman, who has over 30 years of experience in the financial advice industry. Each employee of the ZWM team shares the same commitment to providing comprehensive financial planning, objective advice and personalized service under a fee-only model.
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and CFP® (with plaque design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
THOMAS H. ZIMMERMAN, CFP®
Principal, Managing Member
Tom founded Zimmerman Wealth Management (ZWM) after an extensive career at Mesirow Financial and Merrill Lynch. With over thirty years of experience as an investment advisor and more than twenty years as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Tom’s vision for ZWM cultivated from the desire to create an independent financial planning and investment advisory firm that could provide objective advice, personalized service and holistic financial planning to clients on a fee-only basis.
In 2003, ZWM opened its doors to individuals, families, businesses, retirement plans, accountants, and attorneys to provide the standard of service Tom had envisioned.
Tom has been recognized by Barron’s Magazine as a top independent advisor every year since 2011 and was selected by both AdvisorOne.com and Wealth Manager Magazine as a top advisor from 2010 to present.
Tom serves on the executive committee of the board for the Youth Jobs Center and is a member of The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and Financial Planning Association (FPA). In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, following Chicago sports teams and enjoying food and wine with friends and family.
Tom has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner since 1992.
MONA EDWARDS, CFP®
Director of Financial Planning
Mona is a New Orleans native who joined the ZWM team in 2007. She launched her financial planning career in 2005 after completing the CFP® certification program at the College for Financial Planning. Mona's holistic approach creates financial plans that are sensitive to each family’s unique circumstances and resources.
Mona is passionate about helping people realize their dreams and extends this commitment to the community. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and has served as a pro bono volunteer; providing financial literacy training for the Kingsley House and other organizations located in New Orleans. In her free time, Mona enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, yoga, gardening and reading.
Mona has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner since 2009.
MARSHALL A. GARRETT, CFP®
Financial Planning Associate
Marshall joined ZWM in 2013 after gaining experience in client service and portfolio administration at another financial planning firm. Prior to moving to Chicago in 2012, Marshall earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics from St. Edward’s University and both an MBA and a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University, a CFP® board-registered program.
Marshall grew up in Austin, Texas and enjoys film and live music, traveling and trying new restaurants. He has been involved as a member of the Young Leaders Fund (YLF) and is planning on serving on the board of FPA NexGen in 2016-17.
Marshall has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner since 2015.

About our organizations:
FPA is the principal professional organization for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals, educators, financial services providers and students who seek advancement in a growing, dynamic profession.
FPA “Financial Planning Days” are pro bono planning sessions open to the general public at various locations in Chicago.
The Money Wise Financial Literacy Program is sponsored by the Metro Center for Women and Children, a domestic violence shelter in New Orleans.
NexGen is an FPA community focused on the next generation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals. This community of young planners (age 36 and under) strive to:
- Support, advise and encourage one another in our professional advancement.
- Promote, foster and direct programs that aid in the transfer of knowledge from the pioneers of financial planning to the future of the profession.
- Explore issues common to younger planners and seek means of accentuating the positives and finding resolutions for the negatives.
Operation Homefront provides assistance to wounded veterans and their families during difficult financial times. The FPA has partnered with OH to offer financial planning services to veterans receiving a home donated by this non-profit organization.
YJC of Evanston prepares youth between the ages of 14-25 for success in the workplace by providing job-readiness, job-placement and employment support in partnership with local employers.
YLF is an initiative of the Chicago Community Trust, comprised of young professionals in various industries who work together to research, evaluate and write small grants for emerging non-profit organizations in the Chicago area.
